WDS Construction, Inc., a Beaver Dam-based general contractor serving 48 states with construction management and development services, announced the launch of its Cold Storage division.
“Throughout the Covid-19 pandemic, we’ve experienced continued demand for our cold storage construction services,” explained Ben Westra, president of WDS. “As we look to the future and see what’s happening in the food production, supply chain and online food delivery industries, we’ve created a Cold Storage division to meet that demand and further serve food processors and distributors with temperature-controlled facilities.”
As part of this company growth, Tom White—existing Director of Operations at WDS—will transition to the new role of Director of Cold Storage. White’s construction experience spans five decades, working with more than 15 food processing companies, and has been instrumental in WDS’s recent Vortex Cold Storage, Beaver Dam Cold Storage and Cedar Valley Cheese projects.
“Cold storage requires a detail-oriented approach and Tom’s experience navigating thermal technicalities, vapor barriers, Safe-Quality Food Certification and FDA guidelines allows him to guide companies through all the details and decisions required to create the best cold storage facility for their business needs,” added Westra. “He’s the perfect person to lead our new division.”
With White’s new role as Director of Cold Storage, WDS announced that Tim Andrew, senior project manager, will be promoted to Director of Operations. Andrew has 22 years of construction experience in the educational, food processing, industrial, medical and retail industries. As WDS Director of Operations, Andrew will oversee all projects and scheduling, manage safety responsibilities, maintain client relations, lead the team of project managers and operations assistants, and work with WDS’s General Superintendent to support job site superintendents across the country.
“When Tim Andrew joined WDS three years ago, we knew his experience and skillset would be invaluable to the organization and to our growth,” explained Westra. “As we expand by creating market-specific divisions, we know Tim has the drive, expertise and commitment to quality and safety that we need to oversee all of our operations.”
