WDS played a large role in helping Bowlero, a bowling and entertainment center franchise, extend their company’s footprint to Arlington, VA. For this project, construction would take place on a 50-year-old building located on a major city street. The building presented WDS with a unique challenge as it was built with post-tension cables that couldn’t be compromised during the rehab of the space. WDS utilized Ground Penetrating Radar and X-ray to locate cables and work around plumbing to avoid any conflicts. Another challenge of the project was the limited laydown area at the site’s location, which made it difficult when storing equipment and supplies. The project also occurred during the Covid-19 pandemic, so every trade inspection had to be completed virtually to obtain a certificate of occupancy while adhering to restriction regulations.
WDS’ work on this project earned the ABC National Excellence in Construction Award. This award recognizes the best in merit shop construction to honor the most outstanding construction projects and contractors for their remarkable achievements in safety, leadership, innovation, and diversity. It also earned the ABC-WI Gold Project of Distinction Award. This award highlights the quality and professionalism of merit construction projects by ABC of Wisconsin members.
