WDS Construction Celebrates 20 Years of Building Community
Company reflects on two decades of growth, family leadership & a passion for construction
July 29, 2025 – Beaver Dam, Wis. – This July, WDS Construction marked a major milestone: 20 years of building spaces that bring people together. From its humble beginnings in a sewing room to becoming a nationally recognized construction partner, WDS has remained anchored in family values and fueled by a deep commitment to community.
Founded in 2005 by Ben Westra, WDS was built on a vision of doing things differently — focusing on relationships, transparency, and delivering more than just buildings. The company name itself is a nod to its roots: William, Dewey, and Steve — Ben’s great-grandfather, grandfather and father — representing a proud family legacy that continues to shape the company today.
“Reaching 20 years is a moment of reflection and gratitude,” said Ben Westra, President. “We’ve been blessed with loyal employees, trusting clients and a team that shows up every day with passion and integrity.”
That legacy is continuing into the next generation. Earlier this year, Ben’s daughter, Kate, joined the company — representing the fifth generation of family in the industry.
WDS has grown from a local general contractor into a national construction firm, managing projects across the country in retail, food processing, healthcare, industrial, and other commercial markets. Its reach may be wide, but the company’s purpose remains grounded: “We exist to provide for WDS Families and build Communities through our Passion for Construction.”
